It is starting to look more and more like Xavi Simons will walk out of the door for free at Paris Saint-Germain next summer. The midfielder has been offered a new contract, but wants a guarantee that he will remain involved with the first team. If that is not the case, agent Mino Raiola will look for a new employer for his client. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, several clubs have in the meantime inquired about Simons.

Paris Saint-Germain likes to keep Simons on board and already made him a new proposal, but the Dutchman has not yet agreed. Simons and his entourage want the certainty that he will remain involved in the A-selection, but he currently does not have that guarantee. The midfielder has played less than a minute in Ligue 1 this season and is only sporadically on the reserve bench. Fabrizio Romano reports on Wednesday that several clubs have already inquired about the services of the eighteen-year-old youth international.

Last season, Simons was part of the match selection several times and played in two official matches, as a substitute against Caen in the Coupe de France and against Strasbourg in the Ligue 1. During this season Simons was only on the bench twice and he mainly has to do it. with appearances in the Under 19s, as PSG does not have a U23 team. Simons and other talents of the French superpower would feel ‘cheated’, because promises had been made at PSG about more playing time in the main force.

It therefore seems unlikely that Simons will extend his expiring contract in Paris, despite PSG making several attempts to reach an agreement on a new deal. On the advice of agent Raiola, Simons would only be interested in a new agreement if PSG gives him a place in the A-selection. If he does not receive that guarantee, Simons would want to look for another club. Simons’ name has previously been linked to a return to Barcelona, the club where he played in the youth academy between 2010 and 2019 before moving to PSG.
