Kenneth Perez doesn’t think much of Yorbe Vertessen and Bruma. On Wednesday evening, Vertessen got a base place at PSV in the cup match against Fortuna Sittard, while Bruma came in at the start of the second half. Perez accuses both players of having suffered a lot of ball loss and thinks they do not excel in the small spaces. PSV won the match 2-0 thanks to two goals from Ritsu Doan.

Vertessen lost the ball twelve times in ninety minutes; Bruma ten times in the second half. Players like André Ramalho (fourteen), Érick Gutiérrez (fifteen), Ritsu Doan (fifteen), Phillipp Mwene (seventeen) and Ibrahim Sangaré (eighteen) lost the ball more often, but in the break Perez turned his sights on Vertessen. “I think Vertessen played with a yellow vest in training yesterday. He really only gave crazy balls. He is of course a boy with speed, but in the small space and on the ball it is very poor.”

“I have said before that I see something in him, especially if you are pushed back. Then he can go away with his speed,” said the analyst of ESPN. Perez highlighted some passes from Vertessen that didn’t reach their destination. “He sometimes plays without looking and without any idea. It is a player who wants to show that he is there, that he may have developed and that he could be at the base.” After the game, he added ironically that Bruma “also came in nicely”.

“He just had four hundred times in three seconds,” says Perez, who then sees images of a missed opportunity by Bruma halfway through the second half. From the penalty area he shot straight at keeper Yanick van Osch, where, according to Marciano Vink, he should have looked for the far corner. “Really boy, fucking hellAdds Perez. “If he’s not focused, there’s very little left. Holy, holy, holy… I am not a fan of his, I have always found it incomprehensible that PSV has been chasing him for eight years.”

Some images are shown of Bruma getting stuck under pressure from opponents. “It’s just very difficult for him in the small space, so maybe it’s better to pass the ball and be on the move a lot,” says Perez. “The rear has played concentrated, led by André Ramalho. Erick Gutierrez did his things. But Vertessen in the first half and Bruma when he came in… I think Maximiliano Romero can be a weapon for PSV. If he can be fit for a longer period of time, it is someone who can help PSV further if they start playing in the small space.” Romero came in eighteen minutes before the end.
