PEC Zwolle finally booked another victory on Tuesday evening. In the second round of the TOTO KNVB Cup, the team of trainer Dick Schreuder had no child at MVV Maastricht and it became 4-0. It was the first victory for the people of Zwolle since the appointment of the fifty-year-old coach. The last victory dates from October 26 this year, when De Graafschap was sidelined 4-1 in the first round of the cup.

Schreuder’s team could use a success and MVV turned out to be the perfect opponent for that. After thirteen minutes of play, Yuta Nakayama headed a corner from Luka Adzic towards the sixteen-meter area and Siemen Voet was there to give the right push: 1-0. Corners proved to be the road to success for the Zwolle players. Six minutes after the opening goal, Adzic hurled the ball in front of the goal again; this time it was Rav van den Berg who hit the target.

The visitors had little to contribute and could be happy that it was only 2-0 at halftime. After the break, the predominance of the almost unleashed Eredivisie bottom line continued. Slobodan Tedic saw a goal disallowed for offside, but Adzic did increase the margin to three after an hour of play. The Serbian striker passed Rico Zeegers and crowned a fine match with his first goal in Zwolle. PEC didn’t think for a second to show mercy: twenty minutes before time it was time for the next one. Samir Lagsir was able to walk through Maastricht’s defense unhindered and still gave Tedic his goal.

MVV stood by and looked at it. It said enough that Klaas Wels’ team was only able to score the first opportunity of the match fifteen minutes before the end via Sven Blummel. PEC Zwolle, however, played the game effortlessly and even went on the hunt for the fifth. However, that did not come anymore, although Schreuder and associates would have been happy with that. Zwolle can prepare for the third cup round.
