The Polish national champion is experiencing an extremely disappointing season and is currently in last place. It was for the supporters reason to physically attack the players. Legia confirms the attack through official channels, but would not confirm whether there were any injuries.

Legia regrets the situation, according to a statement on the website. “Legia Warsaw confirms that on their way back, after losing the game to Plock, there was an incident involving an aggressively behaving group of people,” the statement read. “In line with the agreements and precautions taken, the selection and technical staff returned to the training center under police escort. Nevertheless, the group managed to stop the bus, after which several people got inside the bus and showed very aggressive treaty towards the players.”

According to reports in Polish media, at least three players were injured, although the club is not releasing anything about it. “The details of the incident have been verified with the police, who have announced an official investigation. The club takes the incident extremely seriously and is making every effort to get to the bottom of it. We emphasize that we find such actions unacceptable and harmful. We are therefore working with the police to clarify the circumstances of this incident and take further action.”

The club is currently in talks with the affected players, after which a decision will be made at a later stage about the next steps. “We also immediately decided to tighten up the security measures in and around the club locations. Our priority is to give the players and employees a sense of security.” Legia, reigning national champion in Poland, is in a disappointing last place in the Ekstraklasa with 12 points from 16 matches. The gap with the safe fifteenth place is three points. The bottom three clubs are relegated directly from the top division.
