Real Madrid is furious at UEFA’s decision to redo the full draw for the round of 16 of the Champions League, reports say Goal. The Spanish superpower believes that his showdown against Benfica should have stood, as it happened before the draw went wrong. However, UEFA is inexorable.

Real argues that the draw against Benfica took place without any irregularities and is therefore completely legitimate. UEFA could have decided to leave the confrontation between Real and Benfica in the new draw, which takes place from 3 p.m. The Madrilenians insisted on this on Monday afternoon, but found no response from the European Football Association.

Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid, speaks according to Goal of a ‘scandal’. The incident sets the relationship between the Royal and UEFA under further pressure: the two organizations have been at odds since the Super League was founded. A draw against Benfica was also favorable for Real, because the club could also have been linked to more highly regarded clubs such as Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Huge mistakes were made in the original draw on Monday 12 noon. Less than two hours later, UEFA decided that the draw should be over. The European Football Association blames the errors on “a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs officials which teams can meet.”
