Roger Schmidt has announced PSV’s match selection for the crucial Europa League match against Real Sociedad. The German coach can again have Mario Götze and Philipp Max at his disposal on Thursday evening, but had to leave Davy Pröpper in Eindhoven, among others. PSV needs a draw against the current number five of LaLiga to qualify for the knockout phase of the Europa League.

Götze was missing from the 4-1 home game against FC Utrecht last Saturday due to back problems, but has recovered enough to be part of the selection. Max also returns. The wing defender played his last game on November 7 due to a positive corona test. He is in the selection, but is not expected to start. Mauro Junior, who has made an excellent impression in recent weeks, seems to be his logical replacement in the left-back position.

With the return of Götze and Max, Eran Zahavi, Davy Pröpper, Maxi Romero and Ryan Thomas are the only absentees. Richard Ledezma also travels to San Sebastián. He made his comeback against De Graafschap (2-3 loss) at the U23 team on Monday after a year of injury. PSV will depart from Eindhoven Airport on Wednesday and train in the evening in Estadio Anoeta, the recently renovated stadium of Real Sociedad. In the event of a draw or a win, wintering in the Europa League is a fact, otherwise the Conference League remains.

Full match selection PSV: Teze, Obispo, Ramalho, Sangaré, Van Ginkel, Vinicius, Madueke, Gakpo, Müller, Gutiérrez, Drommel, Mauro Júnior, Boscagli, Bruma, Doan, Götze, Mwene, Max, Vertessen, Ledezma, Mvogo.
