Tottenham Hotspur takes eight games to decide on Steven Bergwijn’s near future, reports The Times. The renowned British newspaper repeats the news of The Telegraph that Ajax will come onto the market in January to hire the 24-year-old winger.

Antonio Conte, the new Tottenham coach, called on Bergwijn for a total of only fifteen minutes in six games. The Italian prefers Lucas Moura on the right side of the attack, who impressed on Sunday against Norwich City (3-0 win) with a phenomenal opening goal. Bergwijn only had an eleven-minute substitute on the Brazilian’s place.

Tottenham has a very busy schedule and will play no fewer than eight games until January 1. The club management wants to use that period to make a decision about Bergwijn, so it sounds in England. If the the Dutch international will hardly take action next month, then the Spurs thinking along with a temporary departure. In that case, Ajax’s attempt to bring in Bergwijn will be promising.

Conte said last week that Bergwijn may get a chance to play as a striker. The manager has no stand-in behind Harry Kane in the number nine position. “I think Kane needs some rest this month as well. Steven would then be a good option to take over his duties.” London Evening Standard up from the mouth of Conte. “In the past I have also seen Heung-Min Son play in striker. Frankly, I prefer to see him as an attacking midfielder, the position in which he now plays. Steven is working hard and we are trying to get him ready for the striker position. Steven is a good option for the day I want to give Harry a rest.”
