During the Conference League match between Stade Rennes and Vitesse, supporters of the visitors did not show their best side. The French newspaper Ouest France will publish photos of vandalism in the uitvak on Friday. Vitesse supporters are said to have thrown bottles, cups and about twenty chairs at the CRS, the French Mobile Unit.

There were 630 accompanying Vitesse fans present at the Roazhon Park. According to a supporter, who explains on an anonymous basis the Gelderlander, halfway through the first half, there was a rumor in the stands that Stade Rennes supporters had broken out of their box and were on their way to the away section. “In response, a number of Vitesse supporters also tried to break out,” he explains. A small part of the Dutch supporters tried to force an emergency door in the branch.

According to the anonymous fan, the French police reacted “quite violently” by using large cans of tear gas. Innocent supporters, Vitesse stewards and Dutch police officers who traveled with them were hit as a result. As a result, the hectic pace in the branch only increased. Many supporters tried to flush their burning eyes in the toilet, but some decided to pull the seats from the stands and throw them at the French police. “Later a stall for food and drinks was also looted. And the toilets of the branch have been demolished.”

The battered toilets can be seen on images published by the account Voetbal Ultras on Instagram. Footage can also be seen of the throwing of the chairs. The French agents were about to enter the branch and intervene, but in the end they didn’t. Then calm returned; there were no significant incidents after the game. Stade Rennes and Vitesse drew 3-3.
