Should Erling Braut Haaland decide to leave Borussia Dortmund next year, there is a good chance that Real Madrid will be the final destination, assures Goal. The Norwegian striker is well placed in the market and last summer also frequently showed interest, but has not yet made the final decision. On Friday it was announced that the attacker has recovered from his hip injury faster than expected. This weekend he will make his comeback in the match selection for the duel with VfL Wolfsburg.

Haaland was already able to present staggering figures at Red Bull Salzburg, but since his move to Dortmund in January 2020 he has broken record after record. The 21-year-old striker has scored 70 goals in 69 games for BVB and has a €75 million escape clause in his contract that will come into effect next summer. According to Goal the Norwegian has told his entourage that a move to Madrid is most appealing to him, but that he has not yet made a final decision on his future.

Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent, recently revealed that his client owns a house in Spain, but much could depend on whether the Royal able to bring in Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. Haaland knows he would have to share the spotlight with the Frenchman at the Santiago Bernabeu, while Madrid doubts it can strike a deal for the star Dortmund player after an initial rapprochement in the recent transfer window failed. In addition to Real, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are also lurking for the Norwegian’s signature.

Dortmund has repeatedly quelled speculation around Haaland, with sporting director Sebastian Kehl pledging to do everything he can to keep the attacker. “Of course we try to give him the feeling that Borussia Dortmund remains the right place for him and that he can still develop here,” Kehl said earlier this month. “Maybe we can still convince him. We will fight for him. We will try everything. The decision has not yet been made, but I would bet 100 euros on him staying.”

Haaland will return to Dortmund’s match selection on Saturday. The attacker has recovered faster than expected from a hip injury, which left him out for more than five weeks. “Haaland is coming along, he may be able to make playing minutes again,” said trainer Marco Rose. In the absence of the striker, Dortmund missed their winter winter in the Champions League on Wednesday evening due to a 3-1 defeat at Sporting Portugal. Haaland was also missed by the Norwegian team. The country finished third in the group of the Netherlands and will not be in Qatar next year.
