Barcelona has reached an agreement with Ronald Koeman’s advocacy groups about paying his salary, reports Sport. The Catalan club has promised that the Dutchman can look forward to ten million euros before the end of the year. It was previously reported that Koeman would receive twelve million euros from Barcelona. Assistant trainers Alfred Schreuder and Henrik Larsson are also paid in full.

There was much to be said about Koeman’s lump sum. President Joan Laporta wished to evict the coach, who was fired as Barca coach at the end of October, at an earlier stage, but the club’s empty treasury did not allow that. It did not stop Laporta from giving the Dutchman his congé after the defeat against Rayo Vallecano. El Pais previously reported an amount of twelve million euros, but that is now lower.

According to Sport Barcelona has never made a problem of the settlement of the contracts. The club has always fully cooperated and has assured that the three can look forward to the amount owed before December 31, 2021. Apart from the costs of Koeman’s dismissal, Barcelona also had to pay for the appointment of Xavi. The former midfielder of the club, who took over from Koeman, had to be released from Al-Sadd for five million euros.

Mundo Deportivo and marca revealed that Barcelona and Xavi had agreed that each would pay half of the transfer fee. The new Barca coach will recoup his investment in the future, as Barcelona will undertake various promotional activities in Qatar. Partly due to the expensive dismissal of Koeman, Xavi reportedly has to settle for an annual salary of 2.9 million euros in Camp Nou. Xavi won his first LaLiga game against Espanyol (1-0), but was stuck in the Champions League on Tuesday after a 0-0 draw against Benfica.
