Ansu Fati was the victim of a burglary at his home in Sant Cugat del Vallès on Saturday night, reports say La Vanguardia. While the Spanish international’s family watched the game between Barcelona and Espanyol (1-0) on the ground floor of the house, the invaders struck upstairs. Fati himself was in the stands during that match. By the time the police arrived, the burglars were already gone. Jewellery, money and watches were taken.

Around ten o’clock in the evening the family of the Barcelona winger heard suspicious noises coming from the upper floor and the police were immediately called. When the local authorities of Sant Cugat arrived at the residence, the thieves had already flown. The intruders had forced one of the upstairs entrances and disabled the alarms and security cameras.

Fati, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, was himself at the Camp Nou cheering for his club. On Monday, the youth reported the crime to the police station, Barcelona sources said. The Catalan police do not rule out the possibility that Fati has been hit by organized crime, specializing in the robbery of football players. That is why the case has come into the hands of the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Catalan police.

It has been over two and a half years since a Barcelona player was last burglarized. Arthur Melo, currently a Juventus player, had to pay in May 2019: the Brazilian’s brother was threatened with weapons at the time while thieves stripped his house of jewelry and watches. Kevin-Prince Boateng had been robbed three months earlier in jewelry worth 300,000 euros. Within the Dutch borders, Eran Zahavi was recently hit by a brutal robbery. Last September, the burglars held the child of the PSV attacker at gunpoint while they looted his house.
