Jessey Sneijder has signed a youth contract with FC Utrecht, his father Wesley Sneijder announced on Instagram. The fifteen-year-old son of the the Dutch record international has recently completed an internship with the Domstedelingen and sees that being awarded a contract.

Wesley Sneijder shows on his Instagram Stories to be very proud of his son. Rodney Sneijder, Jessey’s uncle, also reports the signing of the contract via that medium. Jessey made his debut for the first team of amateur club DHSC on September 4, for which Rodney is also an active player. Wesley and his brother Jeffrey are part of the technical staff.

Jessey Sneijder reacted soberly to his debut in the first of DHSC a few months ago. “I like it, but I’m not there yet,” said the fifteen-year-old left striker, who actually played for the Under 16 of the club. “I have to work even harder. It’s very hard. The pace is still a bit too high for me, but that’s a matter of getting used to. It tastes like more.” The comparison with his father is never far away, he knows. “It’s nice, but the comparison doesn’t add up when you see what he has achieved in his younger years. I don’t need to be compared to him either.”
