Roger Schmidt has appeared on the radar at a trio of German clubs, know BILD to report on Wednesday. The coach has still not extended his contract expiring next summer at PSV, which has sparked the rumor in Germany. Schmidt is at the top of the list at Hertha BSC, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig, or so it sounds to the eastern neighbors.

Schmidt is at PSV until the end of the season and has not yet renewed his contract, which has led in Germany to the trainer being associated with a return to his native country. PSV has already tentatively hinted that they would like to continue with Schmidt longer, but the trainer is hesitant. A final decision must be made before the turn of the year, according to the German media. “Eindhoven is an exemplary training club, not a title candidate”, judges BILD.

According to the German newspaper, there are “many indications of a departure after this season”. “In terms of possibilities, the club is just as far removed from Ajax as Borussia Dortmund is from Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. PSV lacks the strength for a serious attack on Ajax.” It should be noted that Schmidt lost about fifty million euros in players last summer with, among others, Donyell Malen, Denzel Dumfries and Pablo Rosario. It was bought back for 8.5 million euros.

The PSV supporters now seem to be completely done with Schmidt. Supporters club PSV Fans United decided to text director Toon Gerbrands after the 5-0 earwash against Ajax to immediately say goodbye to Schmidt. “We have made the friendly, but urgent appeal to Gerbrands to immediately dismiss Schmidt! “PSV Fans United, like many other fans, sees things only getting worse with our club’s matches and believes that Schmidt is responsible for that is,” the association wrote on Facebook.
