VfL Wolfsburg did good business in the Champions League on Tuesday. Won in the home game with Red Bull Salzburg the Wölfe 2-1, after a previous 3-1 defeat in Austria. Florian Kohfeldt, who recently succeeded the fired Mark van Bommel as trainer, is still unbeaten after his second game on the bench thanks to the victory. The Germans are in second place in Group G with five points; Salzburg remains the leader with seven points for the time being. Wout Weghorst started at Wolfsburg in the starting line-up and was taken off after 63 minutes.

Weghorst returned after two weeks of absence due to a corona infection. The Dutchman saw his team take the lead after three minutes. Ten minutes before tea, Weghorst missed a great opportunity to put his team ahead again. Another good pass from Gerhardt bounced through the toe of the striker and the ground over the goal of goalkeeper Philipp Köhn. It thus remained at 1-1 in the first company.
