Jude Bellingham has taken to social media to laugh off rumors linking him to a move to Liverpool. The 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder tweeted a GIF of himself, which he has since deleted, showing him smiling in an England uniform. Bellingham is rumored to have said he will be under contract with Liverpool next year.

England’s eight-time international has long been strongly associated with the Reds. Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed the Premier League leader’s interest in his star player last week. Bellingham’s post on Twitter, which has since been deleted, was in response to a tweet from FourFourTwo claiming he had told people he was moving to Anfield.

The midfielder retweeted the message with a GIF of himself, which showed him smiling in an England uniform. Bellingham decided not to caption his social media post. ‘s message FourFourTwo follows a claim made by former Premier League player Craig Hignett, who said a transfer from Bellingham to Liverpool is ‘almost certain’. “I think I heard it from a reliable source. I can’t give the source but apparently Bellingham has said he is moving to Liverpool,” the former Middlesbrough and Blackburn professional footballer said during a broadcast of BBC Radio Merseyside.

“Whether that will be in January or at the end of the season is not yet certain, but I have a reliable source that it is almost certain,” said Hignett. Bellingham made the switch from Birmingham City to Dortmund in July 2020 for 23 million euros. The midfielder has the most ball conquests, successful dribbles, tackles, interceptions and also creates the most chances in the Bundesliga this season. He has scored three goals so far this season and provided six assists in 16 games.
