René van der Gijp thinks it would not make Ajax any worse if Quinten Timber were to play in the position of Edson Álvarez. The analyst is impressed by the twenty-year-old midfielder of FC Utrecht, who was taken over from Ajax last summer. Where Johan Derksen in Veronica Inside is positive about FC Utrecht, Wim Kieft at the same time criticizes Ajax’s game against Heracles Almelo.
“Imagine that you replace Álvarez with that boy who now plays at FC Utrecht (Timber, ed.), it doesn’t make you any worse. It’s strong, man. Strong and fast”, says Van der Gijp. “We have to keep an eye on Utrecht”, Derksen adds later about FC Utrecht, which currently occupies third place in the Eredivisie. “That weird trainer (René Hake, ed.) has never played football, but he does have a lot of experience.
