According to David Alaba, Real Madrid is “just a little bigger than Bayern Munich” in everything. The Austrian international speaks from experience, as he was under contract with the German superpower in recent years and made the transfer-free transfer to the Royal. He is very pleased with his first months in Spain, he says in conversation with kicker. Alaba says he can feel ‘the special look and atmosphere of the club’ from day one.

“You can feel the history of this club when you walk across the training ground or through the city. This club has something very special,” said 29-year-old Alaba, who signed a contract until mid-2026 in Madrid. Compared to his former employer, the Austrian says that “Bayern Munich, like Real Madrid, is one of the biggest clubs in the world.” Still, Alaba sees a difference between the two superpowers: “Everything is just a little bigger at Real, without being disrespectful to Bayern.”

Alaba, die of the Rekordmeister left last season after 13 years on a free transfer for an adventure with the current number two of La Liga, says he owes a lot to his old employer. “I am incredibly grateful to Bayern for what they have given me.” Alaba won no fewer than 27 prizes in his period in southern Germany, including ten national titles and twice the Champions League.

Alaba is an important player for the team of coach Carlo Ancelotti this season. The ninety-time international has played thirteen official matches for the Madrilenians this season, ten of which in the league and three in the group stage of the Champions League.
