Donny van de Beek is referred to by the Catalan newspaper Sport linked with a transfer to Barcelona. The 24-year-old bench seat of Manchester United seems well on his way to the exit of Old Trafford in January and a contract at the Camp Nou may offer a solution. Van de Beek recently changed agent and that is seen in Spain as a positive signal with a view to a possible switch to Barcelona.

Until recently, Van de Beek was coached by Guido Albers. Last month, however, it was announced that he has switched to Ali Dursun, the agent of, among others, Frenkie de Jong. According to Sport a signal that a winter transfer to Barcelona is a possibility. The newspaper harks back to a report from earlier this year, when Van de Beek allegedly offered himself to the Camp Nou through his representative.

In the past transfer period, the now fired trainer Ronald Koeman tried to get Georginio Wijnaldum to Barcelona. The transfer failed, as the the Dutch international decided to accept an offer from Paris Saint-Germain. According to Spanish reports, Barcelona is still looking for a scoring midfielder and thus Van de Beek would be in the picture. Should Barça take action, it would be a rental deal with an option to buy.

Van de Beek plays a supporting role at Manchester United for the second season under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. According to English media, the midfielder is betting on a January departure and is said to have recently spoken with Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The ex-Ajacied’s contract in Manchester will continue until the summer of 2025, with an option for another year.
