Thanks to a late goal by Cyriel Dessers, Feyenoord escaped Sparta Rotterdam (0-1) on Sunday afternoon. The city derby was hardly worth seeing, but still produced a winner in injury time, when the substitute striker was in the right place to work in a corner from Orkun Kökçü. The grapes were a lot more sour for Bryan Linssen, who killed a big chance and had to make way for Dessers after more than an hour of play.

Linssen appeared in front of the cameras of after the game with a big goatee ESPN. “You sometimes have games that you lose and you don’t want to talk about. Now you win, but I don’t want to waste too many words on this. So I don’t know what you want to talk about, but I don’t intend to to say a lot. You want to be important every game, but that is not always possible. I have played nicer matches, yes. Fortunately, the bus trip is nice and short and we don’t have to talk about this too long.”

Linssen had a great opportunity to open the score just after the break, but came across Maduka Okoye in a promising position after a measured cross by Tyrell Malacia from the left side of the field. “The only chance you get has to sit, it won’t go in,” Linssen tells us ESPN. “Not every ball can go in, of course, but you’re upset about that. We won’t talk too much about that. I wanted to keep it low, but it hit the inside of his knee and stayed down. That sucks, but luckily we win.”

The attacker was taken to the side by Slot after more than an hour of play and had to watch his replacement carry out the sentence in the final phase. “I don’t have mixed feelings about that, not at all,” said Linssen about the winning goal of his competitor in the striker. “One time I score and I hope he’s happy too, because that’s good for the team. Now he scores at an important moment. When he scored I was up front to cheer. We are a fantastic team and we wish each other well . We also all party together.”

Nevertheless, Linssen cannot suppress the fact that it was a frustrating afternoon at Het Kasteel for him. “Today there was no ball”, the striker leaves no doubt about it. “You need two teams to put down a nice game. That sounds negative, but I don’t mean that towards Sparta. They play a great game for what they do. They didn’t become very dangerous with the long balls, but they are annoying . Only one has to fall wrong. They play very far back and the balls they play back are immediately shot for a long time.”
