Ibrahim Sangaré has proudly provided text and explanation about a song named after him. In conversation with ESPN discusses the origin and expresses his gratitude for the track. The catchy Afrobeat song, which is literally named after Sangaré and even has an accompanying video clip, is a tribute made by the friends of the PSV midfielder.

“Yes, these are my friends from back home,” laughs Sangaré when the YouTube video is shown to him. “Abome (the artist mentioned in the video description, ed.) is an Ivorian singer, and the others are my friends. I really like this music.” When asked if he can also handle the moving rhythm of the song, he is honest. “I really like to dance, but I can’t really do it,” confesses Sangaré, who is grateful to his friends for the song.

The Ivorian midfielder, who came over from Toulouse in September 2020 for an amount of 9.5 million euros, indicates that he is increasingly feeling at home in the Netherlands, although he misses his family. He does, however, feel ‘increasingly absorbed’ after a rough start, which, according to him, is also noticeable in his playing. The midfielder has made six league games this season, in which he scored once.
