GelreDome stadium is sold out for the match between Vitesse and Tottenham Hotspur in the Conference League on Thursday evening. The Arnhem club reports on Tuesday afternoon that the public stands are completely sold out and that a limited number of business seats are still available. A total of 23,731 tickets were sold, the highest number since the home match against Ajax in 2014 (25,500 tickets).

Vitesse has already expanded the stadium’s capacity because of the massive interest in the game against Tottenham. In the Eredivisie, the maximum occupancy is 21,248 spectators, but it can be increased if necessary. In total, 34,000 people can fit in the stadium. In recent years, black cloths were placed on the seats that were not occupied, but that is no longer the case. However, there are restrictions from UEFA for European matches, which have to do with safety and tickets for the club that plays, so that Vitesse cannot expand its capacity to its heart’s content. Tottenham Hotspur can bring more than a thousand fans to Arnhem.

Vitesse has been struggling for years to fill the stadium. The stadium was last sold out in April 2019, when 21,248 fans bought a ticket for the match against PSV (3-3). The last time Vitesse played in a sold-out house before that was in April 2014, during a 1-1 draw against Ajax. At that time there were 25,500 people in the stadium. The game against Tottenham starts on Thursday at 6.45 pm. The English lead Group G with four points. Stade Rennes also has four points; Vitesse has three and is third. NS Mura is the pointless gate closer.
