City Football Group shows interest in the acquisition of ADO Den Haag, it reports General Newspaper. The investment company, which has Manchester City and many other clubs in its portfolio, has been in talks with the board of the ailing club since last week. ADO has another iron in the fire, because there is also a Japanese takeover candidate in the game.

After the group of Jeroen Lentze and Martin Jol dropped out, ADO seemed unable to find a new owner, but now there are again two serious candidates. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s City Group owns New York City FC, Melbourne City FC, Yokohama Flügels Marinos, Montevideo City Torque, Girona, Sichuan Jiuniu, Mumbai City FC, Lommel SK and Troyes in addition to Manchester City. The management of ADO further confirms that serious negotiations are also being held with the Japanese ACA Investments.

ADO Den Haag is heading straight for the abyss and has until November 1 to find a new owner, or at least a bank guarantee of 5.1 million euros. If that fails, the club’s professional license from the Kitchen Champion Division will be revoked. ADO has now been deducted six points in the competition. Because that point deduction does not apply to the period classification, the club managed to win the first period. This means that the club is already at least assured of participating in the Kitchen Champion Play-offs at the end of the season.
