VVV-Venlo has recovered from the defeat a week ago on Saturday to visit Jong PSV. Jos Luhukay’s team settled in a Limburg derby with MVV Maastricht: 2-0. For the visitors there was more in it, but then Mitchy Ntelo should not have tapped the ball on the crossbar for open goal. VVV rises to sixth place, while MVV remains thirteenth. Both teams have now played one game more than the rest in the Kitchen Champion Division.
VVV took the initiative in the game, but the first big chance came from a counter for the visitors. Sven Blummel launched Sven Braken with a beautiful pass with the outside of the foot, who aimed wide. VVV took the lead just before half-time, when Tristan Dekker headed in a free kick from Wassim Essanoussi: 1-0. The defender of the Venlo team took advantage of a big mistake by MVV goalkeeper Thijmen Nijhuis, who completely missed his goal and left his goal empty.

After the break, MVV midfielder Orhan Dzepar shot the ball from eighteen meters through the fingertips of Lukás Zima on the post, after which Mitchy Ntelo got him for typing. The MVV player miraculously aimed the ball in front of the open goal at the crossbar and also got the second rebound with his head not in it. A minute later, Yahcuroo Roemer was able to cross the field towards the goal after a mistake by Matteo Waem in the build-up, but the VVV attacker’s shot was tapped wide by Nijhuis.
MVV again had a great chance when Mart Remans broke through the defense of VVV, but his shot went just wide. The Venlo team got more and more space in the counterattack and decided the game a minute before the end. Kees de Boer laid the ball with a heel for Carl Johansson, who scored effectively from inside the penalty area: 2-0.
