The draw for UEFA Futsal EURO 2022 will take place on Monday 18 October at the KNVB Campus in Zeist, UEFA announced on Tuesday afternoon. The championship will take place from January 19 to February 6, 2022 in Amsterdam and Groningen; ticket sales will start one day after the draw. It is the first time that the final tournament is organized in the Netherlands.

Hosted by UEFA Futsal EURO Ambassador Soufiane Touzani and former street football star Rocky Hehakaija, the draw will split the sixteen participants into four groups of four. They compete for a place in the quarterfinals and ultimately for the European title. Depending on the UEFA coefficient list, the participants will be placed in one of four pots in the draw. The final pot classification will be drawn up after the FIFA Futsal World Cup, which is currently taking place in Lithuania.

Tournament director Gijs de Jong is looking forward to the draw, he says via the official channels of the KNVB. “For the first time, the draw for a European Championship will take place on the KNVB Campus in Zeist, something we as a tournament organization are of course proud of. On Monday evening, October 18, the teams will know who they are going to meet and the preparation can begin. Also for the fans. We are looking forward to full houses and a lot of spectacle.”

Ticket sales for all matches will start a day after the draw on October 19. For the largest European Championship Fustal ever, the two venues, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and MartiniPlaza in Groningen, will be completely transformed into ‘futsal walhallas’. Both locations can accommodate 17,500 futsal fans. Tickets are available from ten euros the day after the draw via the official tournament website.

For the first time in history, sixteen countries will compete for the European title. As the host country, the Dutch Futsal is automatically included and other participating countries are title holders Portugal, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Finland, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Ukraine. Serbia and Belarus will play against each other between 14 and 17 November for the last ticket.
