André Onana is about to make a transfer to Internazionale, Fabrizio Romano reports on Thursday. The 25-year-old goalkeeper plans to walk out of his contract with Ajax and move to Milan in the summer. “It’s not finished yet, but he’s very, very close to a transition,” Romano assures in his livestream.

Mike Verweij from The Telegraph spoke several times last month about the very tense negotiations between Ajax and Onana. The Amsterdammers have minimal hope that the Cameroonian will extend his expiring contract, but given Romano’s news, he does not seem to intend to do so. Onana has been suspended until November 4 due to ingestion of the banned substance furosemide and has been training again with Jong Ajax since September 4.

On February 4 this year, it was announced that Onana would be banned for a year because of the banned substance, which the goalkeeper says he accidentally took from his wife’s medicine cabinet. Ajax lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and was partly in the right: Onana’s suspension was shortened by three months.
