Johan Derksen is not at all pleased with SC Cambuur’s view of the game in the competition match against Ajax on Saturday evening. The team of trainer Henk de Jong lost by no less than 9-0 in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Derksen called the trainer of the Frisians during Veronica Inside a ‘naive boy scout’, who lets his team play soccer. According to the analyst, Cambuur’s biggest defeat ever in the Eredivisie can be attributed entirely to De Jong.

Derksen saw little entertainment value in Ajax’s monster victory on Saturday evening. “After 3-0 I saw it and I think: that match is no longer worth the prestige.” The analyst switched to other matches. Jong van Cambuur, who lets his team play football..”, the analyst sighs. According to Derksen, the trainer would have done well to opt for a more defensive battle plan. ”If you go to Ajax as a Cambuur, you choose a strengthened defense and you play on the edge, because they have a European match in their legs. Take them until you drop, but you’re not going to play football, are you? Ajax invented that!”

De Jong did not want to blame his players after the ear washing: “Let’s be honest, we really tried everything. Standing low, standing high, another system. Ajax was simply better in all areas”, the trainer acknowledged. “I didn’t do it wrong, did I?” De Jong replied in front of the camera of ESPN it was then suggested that a different approach to the game might have resulted in a less severe defeat. “We countered, but Ajax was too good. They pushed us back into our own half. You can lose to a very good Ajax. We have a shitty evening, but tomorrow (Sunday, ed.) I’ll be right in front of the group again. They were just too good for us, in all positions”.

According to Wim Kieft, De Jong does not have to lose weight publicly either. “This is also just the level of the Netherlands. I played at Ajax and PSV. Then you also scored more than a hundred goals per competition. If you had a very good year, you made almost 120. These kinds of results are always among them.” Derksen clearly does not agree with the former football player. “He has to make a game of it, it is a football game. It’s not participating with Ajax, full of respect. The Ajax players hate tackling sharply!”
