AZ and Jordy Clasie accept a settlement proposal from the professional football prosecutor, the club reported Monday evening via the official channels. As a result, the midfielder receives a three-game suspension, one of which is conditional. Clasie received a direct red card when visiting Heracles Almelo (3-2 defeat) on Sunday after intervention by the VAR.

Clasie was booked in the 43rd minute for a serious foul on Luca de la Torre. Referee Serdar Gözübüyük was called to the side by VAR Siemen Mulder, because the action of the AZ midfielder deserved a direct red card in the eyes of the video referee. After seeing the footage, the referee was convinced. Clasie’s tackle on his opponent was still judged with a direct red card.

While Clasie was on his way to the dressing room, the game was resumed and debutant Kaj Sierhuis shot the ball hard against the ropes with a great long shot. He made the 1-1; in the second half, AZ seemed to tie 2-2 despite the number of players, until Rai Vloet took advantage of a free kick deep in injury time. Due to the suspension, Clasie misses the meeting with FC Twente (Thursday, 9 p.m.) and Go Ahead Eagles (Sunday, 2:30 p.m.).

Jordy Clasie’s violation can be seen from minute 4:55.
