Three days after the surprising draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Club Brugge has booked a minimal victory in the Jupiler Pro League. Philippe Clement’s team got away very well against Charleroi, which was the only unbeaten team in the competition until Saturday and received an unexpected goal in extra time: 0-1. An unbeatable Simon Mignolet starred.

Charleroi was the most dangerous team in the first 45 minutes with some nice opportunities. Club Brugge had the ball more often, but rarely became threatening and it was thanks to Mignolet that it did not fall behind. That was also a compliment to the home team, who barely gave anything away without playing overly negative. Clement had seen enough after the first half and took Faitout Maouassa to the side, in favor of Noa Lang.

However, the visitors did not start well in the second half and were very grateful to Mignolet after a few minutes. The goalkeeper worked a hard header from Shamar Nicholson against the bottom of the crossbar. With his leg outstretched, he prevented the onrushing Adem Zorgane from taking advantage of the rebound. As the second half progressed, Charleroi’s storm abated, but the team from Bruges did not play well and made an even weaker impression than in the first half.

Nevertheless, the 0-1 appeared on the scoreboard in extra time. Ignace Van der Brempt pushed the ball in front of the goal and there was De Ketelaere to carry out Charleroi’s sentence. A hard blow for Charleroi, which did not deserve such an end after an excellent collective performance. Bas Dost stayed on the bench; Ruud Vormer was absent due to injuries.
