AS Roma crowned their Conference League debut with a resounding home win on Thursday evening. Jose Mourinho’s team surprisingly fell behind against CSKA Sofia, but came back with great conviction. The most beautiful goal came from Lorenzo Pellegrini, who scored on a pass from Rick Karsdorp. In another match in the Conference League, Queensy Menig scored his first goal for Partizan Belgrade, scoring against Anorthosis (0-2).

AS Roma – CSKA Sofia 5-1
CSKA surprisingly took the lead after ten minutes in Rome. Rick Karsdorp, who started in the base at Roma, was unable to prevent Yanic Wildschut from giving a low cross to Graham Carey. The striker luckily got the ball past two defenders and then shot hard: 0-1. Roma quickly put things in order. Karsdorp sent a good high pass to Lorenzo Pellegrini, who took the ball and lifted it very subtly into the goal: 1-1.

Stephan El Shaarawy fired the ball hard into the goal from eighteen meters on the stroke of half-time and made it 2-1. Roma continued after the break and made it 3-1 via Pellegrini. The number ten was able to slide into a low cross from Riccardo Calafiori with great freedom. Wildschut took his second yellow card in the final phase of the match by pulling Carles Pérez down on a counterattack. Chris Smalling hit the post shortly after, after which Gianluca Mancini tapped in the rebound: 4-1. Shortly afterwards, Tammy Abraham was launched Eldor Shomurodov, after which the AS Roma striker cleverly tipped the ball over the keeper: 5-1.

Anorthosis – Partizan Belgrade 0-2
Many traveled to Cyprus with Partizan as a favorite and also lived up to it with the Serbian team. Goalkeeper Giorgi Loria of Anorthosis had three saves in the first half from Partizan’s dangerous shots, but had to pass in the 42nd minute. Loria released a shot from Lazar Markovic, after which Menig alertly tapped in the rebound: 0-1. In the second half, Ricardo Gomes made the 0-2 for Partizan, by cleverly turning away in the penalty area and putting the ball full into the intersection.
