Vitesse’s group mates in the Conference League drew a draw on Thursday evening. In Group G, where Vitesse takes the lead thanks to a 0-2 victory over NS Mura, Stade Rennais and Tottenham Hotspur drew 2-2. Steven Bergwijn had a starting spot, but had to be replaced after half an hour due to an injury. In Group E, the group of Feyenoord, Slavia Prague won 3-1 against 1. FC Union Berlin despite an assist from Sheraldo Becker.

Tottenham did not come in with the A-choice at Roazhon Park. Stade Rennais certainly did not leave the game unattended and came alongside halfway through the first half. Flavien Tait combined with Serhou Guirassy, pulled in past the penalty area and found the right corner. Until the break, Stade Rennais was the better team. After the break, opportunities arose for both teams, before Stade Rennais took the lead. Nineteen minutes before the end, Gollini didn’t handle a long shot from Kamaldeen Sulemana well, allowing Gaëtan Laborde to strike in the rebound: 2-1. A few minutes later, Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg, Bergwijn’s replacement, got the Roazhon Park quiet when the ball landed at his feet with some fortune: 2-2. A free shot chance was not wasted on Laborde shortly afterwards.
Slavia Prague – 1. FC Union Berlin 3-1
Alexander Bah opened the scoring in the eighteenth minute with a beautiful goal. The right back of Slavia Prague got the falling ball outside the penalty area after a corner kick and completed it in the left corner. Six minutes before the break, the game took another negative turn for Union Berlin, as Paul Jaeckel received a second yellow card for fouling Ondrej Lingr. After an hour, Taiwo Awoniyi’s equalizer was rejected for offside. Still, the visitors managed to come alongside with one man less. Substitute Becker was launched from the right flank and sent a tight pass to Kevin Behrens, who was able to finish from close range. Slavia Prague was eager to take three points and succeeded because Jan Kuchta was lucky enough to get the ball in front of the foot five meters in front of the goal. The final score was determined by Ivan Schranz: 3-1.
