Steven Bergwijn was unable to finish the match between Stade Rennais and Tottenham Hotspur in the Conference League. The attacker had a starting spot, but was hit on the ankle in the first half in a duel with Benjamin Bourigeaud. He was changed after a short medical treatment. The severity of the injury is not yet clear.
After 27 minutes, Bergwijn was lying on the grass along the sideline. The left winger was dealt with while Tottenham continued the game with ten men. Slowly but surely Bergwijn got back on his feet, but it soon became clear that he would be replaced. The stumbling Bergwijn was eventually relieved by Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg. At the time he was substituted, it was 1-1 between the two group members of Vitesse.
