Reece James was the victim of a burglary on Tuesday evening. When the Chelsea fullback played against Zenit Saint Petersburg (1-0) in the Champions League, four people gained access to his home. They stole jewelry and sporting medals, James writes in a message on Instagram. He publishes video images of the burglary, which show four perpetrators in white suits with lights.

The images show that the burglary took place at 8.25 pm, 35 minutes before the start of the game. “On the evening of September 14, when I was playing for my club in the Champions League, a group of cowardly thieves broke into my house,” said the 21-year-old right-back. The images show that the men are jointly dragging a heavy safe towards their car. “They managed to lift a heavy safe containing my personal belongings into their car. I never keep my jewelry at home, so all that was in the safe were medals for winning the Champions League and Supercup and runner-up at the European Championships. I got these medals as a player for Chelsea and England – that honor will never be taken away from me, regardless of whether I have the physical medals.”

Nevertheless, I appeal to all Chelsea and England supporters to assist me in identifying and arresting these low life individualswho will never rest, as the evidence piles up,” continues James. He has called in the police. “The police, my advisers, Chelsea (and many others) are behind me. We have strong leads on the identity of the perpetrators. We’re getting closer. Fortunately, no one was in the house during the break-in, but I want to make it clear to you that I’m safe and fine. I am grateful to have a platform to tell you about this setback. I hope we can catch these people together and that justice will be done.”
