Keisuke Honda continues his career in Lithuania, it became clear on Tuesday. The now 35-year-old attacking midfielder has found shelter with FK Suduva, the current leader in the Lithuanian league. Honda, which was officially presented on Tuesday afternoon, will wear the shirt with number 3 at Suduva. It is already the ninth different country in his career for the 98-time international of Japan.

Earlier in his long career, Honda was active in successively Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Italy, Mexico, Australia, Brazil and Azerbaijan. in the Eredivisie, the veteran played for Vitesse and VVV-Venlo. Honda arrived in Arnhem at the beginning of November 2019, and then left again at the end of December after only four races on behalf of Vitesse. His last employer was Neftci Baku from Azerbaijan, where he retired with the league title in May after just two months. Honda already announced through its social media channels on Tuesday morning that its new club would be announced soon.

It was the second league championship in Honda’s career, who won the title with CSKA Moscow in the 2012/13 season. “I am delighted with this title and will never forget my time in Azerbaijan,” Honda said at a press conference in May. “The last years of my career have been turbulent, but this is a wonderful reward.
