Real Madrid graced its return to the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday with a victory. No less than 560 days after the last game in the now completely renovated football temple, the team of coach Carlo Ancelotti was 5-2 too strong for Celta de Vigo, which, however, took the lead twice. The three-pointer makes Real Madrid one of the three shared leaders after four match days in LaLiga. Valencia and defending champion Atlético Madrid are also on ten points.
Celta only needed a few minutes to silence the Bernabéu immediately. Nacho Fernández was unable to control Miguel Gutiérrez’s ball, after which Santi Mina was able to take care of the surprising 0-1 on the advice of Iago Aspas. Real Madrid looked emphatically for the equalizer, but continued to make a wavering impression in the back. In the end it was Karim Benzema who chased the ball hard behind goalkeeper Matias Dituro after preparatory work by Federico Valverde: 1-1.

Just as Real Madrid was in a good phase, Celta struck for a second time. After a good ball from Hugo Mallo from the right side, Franco Cervi first shot the leather from behind the standing leg against the post, before working the rebound behind Thibaut Courtois: 1-2. Until the halftime signal, Real Madrid had no answer to that, except for a goal by Benzema that was rejected due to offside.
It was once again Benzema who brought Real Madrid back into the game. After an excellent cross by Miguel Gutiérrez, the Frenchman pushed the ball into the goal at the far post: 2-2. A few minutes later, Vinícius Júnior’s name also appeared on the scoreboard. The Brazilian received the ball from Benzema, was unbeatable at speed and worked the ball into the far corner behind Dituro. The Brazilian celebrated his goal with the fans in the stands, for which he received a yellow card.

After 65 minutes of play, Eduardo Camavinga was allowed to make his first minutes in the Real Madrid uniform as a replacement for Eden Hazard. It was a dream debut for the French teenager, who was in the right place six minutes after his entrance to cash in on a rebound after a good shot by Luka Modric: 4-2. Just before time, Benzema converted a penalty after a foul by Denis Suárez on Vinícius Júnior. Real Madrid will play in the Champions League next Wednesday at Internazionale and four days later an away game in and against Valencia awaits.
