Rami Kaib cannot play for sc Heerenveen for the time being. The Swedish left-back suffered a broken jaw from eating a carrot, said Omrop Friesland-reporter Roelof de Vries Sunday afternoon at RTV North prior to the Derby of the North between FC Groningen and Heerenveen.

Kaib started in the first two competition matches from the base with the Frisians. On Sunday against Groningen he was replaced by Lucas Woudenberg and according to De Vries his absence has to do with a broken jaw, which he sustained at the end of August.

“Kaib got a big knock on his jaw during a game a while ago. He just continued training, and of course eating. Well, he ate a carrot and that carrot was quite hard. And then, crack: broken jaw. a carrot,” it sounds.

The 24-year-old Swedish wing defender, who was taken over by Heerenveen from IF Elfsborg at the beginning of this year for 500,000 euros, will be sidelined for weeks due to his injury. In the match against AZ (1-3) he was also missing due to his injury.
