Pierre van Hooijdonk is going to work for ESPN, Johan Derksen reveals on Friday evening Veronica Inside. Derksen’s news is immediately confirmed by Aletha Leidelmeijer, with whom there is a video connection in the talk show. The ESPN presenter says that Van Hooijdonk will make his first appearance around Maccabi Haifa – Feyenoord next Tuesday.

“According to well-informed sources, Pierre van Hooijdonk will be the new man at ESPN. Because he is so positively positive, because he speaks so well in full sentences”, Derksen says. The news is confirmed by Leidelmeijer: “He will indeed be there on Tuesday, at Maccabi Haifa – Feyenoord.” ESPN will broadcast Feyenoord’s first game in the Conference League group stage (kick-off Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 PM).

It is not clear whether this means that Van Hooijdonk will now leave the NOS behind. The former striker has been employed by the public broadcaster since 2015, where he regularly makes an appearance in Studio Voetbal and usually provides the analyzes around the matches of the Dutch national team with Rafael van der Vaart. Ronald de Boer is no longer a permanent analyst at ESPN this season, according to the General Newspaper because people are not happy with the fact that he is serving as an ambassador for Qatar.
