ADO Den Haag booked the third victory of the season in the Kitchen Champion Division on Sunday. The relegated won in a spectacular match against FC Eindhoven 4-2 and is therefore on nine points from five matches. Amar Catic (twice), Sem Steijn and Samy Bourard scored for Ruud Brood’s team; Jort van der Sande scored the visitors’ two goals. ADO climbs to fourth place in the league; Eindhoven is eighth with seven points.

After two consecutive defeats, ADO looked for a victory and the home team became dangerous in the second minute. Catic put the ball back from the right wing to Thomas Verheydt, who headed against the post. From a subsequent corner, Boy Kemper nodded wide. ADO remained the dominant party and created opportunities: Nigel Bertrams prevented Verheydt’s header into the top corner with a stylish save. Against the proportions, however, Eindhoven opened the score eight minutes before the break. Barnabás Rácz set Van der Sande free for Luuk Koopmans’ goal and the striker did not fail. In the injury time of the first half, ADO came alongside with a nice goal from Verheydt. The striker pulled in along the sixteen-meter line and curled the ball beautifully into the far top corner.

After the break, however, Eindhoven again managed to take the lead. Again Van de Sande was the goal scorer: Koopmans couldn’t get his hands against the ball enough after a long shot from the attacker. However, ADO still managed to turn the game around. A foul by Brian De Keersmaecker on Vicente Besuijen resulted in a penalty, which was curious by Steijn, and substitute Bourard graced his return with the 3-2. Five minutes before the end, ADO escaped when Charles-Andreas Brym shot the ball onto the post from outside the penalty area. Shortly afterwards, a detached Joey Sleegers encountered goalkeeper Koopmans in a one-on-one situation; in the counterattack, Catic headed in the last goal.

The match was watched by Arek Wrzosek, who beat Badr Hari in the kickboxing ring on Saturday with a spectacular kick to the head. Wrzosek is a fan of Legia Warsaw and that club has a friendship with ADO, which means that the Pole can sometimes be found in ADO’s stadium. The club from The Hague therefore wished him success in a message on Twitter prior to the fight. Wrzosek also said in an interview with Sports news that he felt supported by the Polish community in The Hague. On Sunday he watched the game in the Cars Jeans Stadium in an ADO shirt.
