André Onana’s next club seems familiar. Corriere dello Sport knows on Sunday to report that the goalkeeper from Cameroon has reached an agreement in principle with Internazionale. The intention is that Onana, who was suspended until November 4, will make the transfer-free transfer from Ajax to the Italian champion next year. It seems impossible that the closing post will still sign a new contract in Amsterdam.
Inter have been looking for a long-term successor to Samir Handanovic for some time now. The Slovenian goalkeeper is now 37 and working on his last contract year at the Giuseppe Meazza. The management of Inter can only talk with the management of the 25-year-old goalkeeper from 1 January 2022, six months before Onana’s contract with Ajax expires. Villarreal and Barcelona inquired about the keeper on the final day, but none of the Spanish clubs managed to reach an agreement with Ajax.

Overmars spoke to Ajax’s club channel on Friday that Onana might leave Ajax on a free transfer. “You never know in football, but I don’t see him extending anytime soon,” said the director of football affairs. “A winter transfer could be, but at some point you also get to the point that it has to yield a decent amount. Onana can train again at Ajax from September 4, although the goalkeeper is not welcome at the A-selection of trainer Erik ten Hag. He is currently joining the club’s promise team.
