Lionel Messi makes his debut for Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening at most as a substitute. The attacker is not part of coach Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the Ligue 1 away game against Stade de Reims. Messi was signed for two seasons at the beginning of this month and has been working on his fitness ever since. The duels with RC Strasbourg (4-2) and Stade Brest (2-4) came too early for the Argentinian. The match starts at 8.45pm.

Earlier this summer, Messi participated with Argentina in the Copa América, a tournament that would eventually be won. The attacker thought he would sign a new contract with Barcelona at the end of last month, but that turned out to be impossible for financial reasons. Messi signed his contract with PSG on August 10 and has been working on his fitness at the training complex ever since.

Pochettino opts for an attack at the Stade Auguste-Delaune with Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and ngel Di María. For Mbappé, it may be his last game in the Parisians’ uniform. The France international is still coveted by Real Madrid, who, however, want to wait until Monday evening at the most and not do business on the very last day of the summer transfer market.

PSG started the season with a loss to Lille OSC in the battle for the Trophée des champions, the French Super Cup, but Pochettino’s team has not lost any points in competition. After a 1-2 victory over Troyes, a 4-2 victory over RC Strasbourg and an identical victory at Stade Brest followed: 2-4.

Line-up Paris Saint Germain: navas; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Kehrer, Diallo; Wijnaldum, Gueye, Verratti; Di Maria, Mbappe and Neymar.
