Jong AZ is the leader of the Kitchen Champion Division after four games. The Alkmaar promises are still without point loss after the 0-1 victory over VVV-Venlo. At the same time, Daryl van Mieghem and Ralf Seuntjens showed themselves with hat-tricks in the matches FC Volendam – MVV Maastricht (5-0) and NAC Breda – ADO Den Haag (3-0). De Graafschap won the top match against FC Emmen aan de Oude Meerdijk with 0-2. Almere City won the spectacular match with Roda JC Kerkrade 3-4, thanks to a winning goal in injury time.

NAC Breda – ADO The Hague 3-0
Within two minutes it was already a hit in the Rat Verlegh Stadium. Pjotr Kestens passed the ball, after which the fully released Ralf Seuntjens was able to hit the target in the mouth. Seuntjens had an opportunity to double the margin within fifteen minutes. Shortly before half-time, Seuntjens scored his second goal of the evening. Cain Seedorf floored Ayouba Kosiah inside the penalty area and Seuntjens made no mistake from eleven meters. Even after the break, Seuntjens did his bit by scoring his third goal with his head. Substitute Marius van Mil could have put ADO on the scoreboard in Breda, but he saw his bet removed from the line. NAC ended the game with ten men, due to a red card for Quincy Tavares for kicking.

VVV-Venlo – Young AZ 0-1
In the very first match ever between Jong AZ and VVV, the score was opened eighteen minutes before time. After a good return from Yusuf Barasi, Fedde de Jong took care of the 0-1. The VVV defense thought it was offside, but the AZ attackers were very free in the penalty area. Until the goal, the number of great opportunities was limited. VVV started dominant and had a lot of ball possession, without creating many serious opportunities. Immediately after the break, VVV keeper Lukas Zima prevented Iman Griffith from giving the home team the lead with a good reflex. Griffith fired just past the target moments later. On behalf of VVV, Levi Smans was unable to successfully complete an impressive rush, before De Jong scored the only goal of the game.

Roda JC Kerkrade – Almere City 3-4
Almere had not yet won a single game, but took the lead in the seventh minute. Maarten Pouwels hit hard from the sixteen-meter line with the left leg through the inside of the post. Halfway through the first half, Roda JC equalized via Patrick Pflücke, who successfully scored from approximately 25 meters. However, three minutes after that goal, Almere City regained the lead: Bradly van Hoeven, the 0-1 assist, got the ball under the feet in the penalty area after Amir Absalem lost the ball and gratefully took advantage. In minute 65, Xian Emmers made it 2-2 when he was sent down and successfully completed. Dylan Vente then made the 3-2 from a penalty kick after a handball from Almere, but Ramon Leeuwin made the 3-3 in a chaotic situation and Jonas Arweiler scored the winning goal in injury time after a scrimmage.

FC Emmen – De Graafschap 0-2
Jeredy Hilterman is currently the man in shape at FC Emmen and was also very dangerous twice in the top match against De Graafschap. On the other hand, goalkeeper Michael Brouwer prevented an early own goal from Lorenzo Burnet. Hilterman had a great chance before half-time, but failed face to face with goalkeeper Hidde Jurjus. However, it was De Graafschap that took the lead early in the second half. Giovanni Korte headed a cross from Joey Konings against the ropes. FC Emmen emphatically looked for the equalizer in the remainder of the game and got opportunities through Lucas Bernadou and Hilterman, among others. Danzell Gravenberch puts an end to all uncertainty five minutes before the end by scoring the 0-2.

Young Ajax – Excelsior 1-2
In the thirteenth minute, referee Joey Kooij pointed to the penalty spot after an alleged violation by Rio Hillen on attacker Thijs Dallinga. The defender of Ajax seemed to start a, albeit firm, tackle on the ball, but was still penalized. Jay Gorter, however, appeared in the right direction and parried Reuven Niemeijer’s effort from eleven meters. Excelsior still took a 0-2 lead in the second half. Shortly after the break, Dallinga headed into the crossbar from a corner, after which Redouan El Yaakoubi got the ball in front of the feet and hit the mark. Jizz Hornkamp created the first danger on behalf of FC Den Bosch with a hard shot, after which it had to wait until well into the second half for the next good chance for the visitors. Nigel Bertrams prevented Ryan Leijten’s equalizer with twenty minutes to go. Dave de Meij had the 2-0 on his shoe a minute before the end, but failed eye to eye with goalkeeper Wouter van der Steen.

Helmond Sport – Young PSV 1-0
The first half produced little spectacle, although Arno Van Keilegom was close to the opening goal in minute 27. Helmond’s winger shot wide from a free kick. The biggest chance of the match so far came in minute 53, when Gaétan Bosiers shot across goalkeeper Vincent Muller after preparatory work by Robin van der Meer. Halfway through the second half, Van der Meer scored the opening goal by heading in a corner from Van Keilegom. Helmond Sport took the first points of the new season in the provincial derby. Young FC Utrecht – Telstar 3-0
The game at Sportcomplex Zoudenbalch was in balance in the first half hour, until Mohamed Mallahi received the ball after a far cross and hit it. Due to a miss by goalkeeper Trevor Doornbusch, Ruben Kluivert was able to score the 2-0 before half time. Soon after the break it became clear that there was nothing to gain for Telstar in Utrecht. Nick Venema hit from a great distance and lifted the margin to three. Telstar tried unsuccessfully to get back into the race, but was unable to do so. The closest thing to a goal on behalf of the visitors was Tom Overtoom, with a shot that flew just over the bar.

FC Volendam – MVV Maastricht 5-0
FC Volendam had a disappointing start to the season, but was quickly helped by goalkeeper Thijmen Nijhuis against MVV. The visitors’ closing post was unable to process a shot well and offered Daryl van Mieghem the opportunity to shoot in the rebound. With a free kick just wide of the goal, Gaetano Oristanio, who was hired from Internazionale, was soon close to 2-0. After Calvin Twigt had missed another great opportunity, Van Mieghem doubled the margin with his second goal of the evening. The first opportunity after the break was via Nicky Souren for MVV, but the first goal was for Volendam. Robert Mühren was sent into the depths and struck once in the penalty area. The resistance of MVV was therefore definitively broken and FC Volendam ran out to 5-0 via Calvin Twigt and the third goal by Van Mieghem.
