Micky van de Ven and FC Volendam are currently diametrically opposed to each other, writes The Telegraph. Both parties appeared before the arbitration committee of the KNVB on Wednesday evening. Van de Ven believes that FC Volendam is depriving him of the opportunity to make the switch to VfL Wolfsburg for two million euros and therefore demands that his contract, which is still running until 2023, be dissolved.

It was argued before the arbitration committee that a significant improvement, both sportingly and financially, is in the offing for Van de Ven if he makes the switch to Wolfsburg. FC Volendam does not dispute that and is willing to cooperate with the departure of the center defender, but only if the correct transfer fee is on the table. According to FC Volendam, that should be more than two million euros and including a usual resale percentage and bonuses. The Kitchen Champion Division club denounces the role of Van de Vens agent Mino Raiola, who, according to FC Volendam’s lawyer, should only have appeared on the scene in the event of an agreement between the two clubs.

“In Micky van de Ven’s case, Mr. Raiola wanted to be in full control from the start. He made an offer on behalf of a number of clubs. Only after FC Volendam indicated that they only wanted to do business directly with VfL Wolfsburg, did that club come up with a proposal of 2 million euros. That was considered insufficient. And now we are here… We would have preferred not to be in Zeist, but at the negotiating table with VfL Wolfsburg,” he writes. The Telegraph from the mouth of FC Volendam’s lawyer.

The Van de Ven camp thinks two million euros is a reasonable transfer fee, given the amounts for which players leave the Kitchen Champion Division and the maximum transfer fees of FC Volendam players’ contracts. FC Volendam thinks differently about this because of the ‘rare profile’ of Van de Ven. “The market is proving it’s nonsense. Interested clubs call Volendam mesjogge,” said Raiola. Van de Ven claims to have received a ‘firm commitment’ through his agent and father to be allowed to make a transfer.

There would now be a disturbed working relationship and Wim Jonk, Jasper van Leeuwen and Ruben Jongkind – the technical leadership of FC Volendam – are accused of having a financial interest in the sale of Van de Ven. “They were gods to Micky, but the trust has been completely swept away. My son does not sleep and does not eat. That worries me,” Van de Ven’s father is quoted as saying. Both parties have until 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon to find a solution, otherwise the arbitration committee will issue a verdict.
