Marc Cucurella is about to move to Brighton & Hove Albion, so assure Cadena Cope and marca. The Premier League club plans to pay the €18million escape clause for the 23-year-old midfielder. Barcelona will receive ten percent of the transfer fee and can therefore count on a windfall of 1.8 million euros.

Fabrizio Romano nuances the reporting from Spain somewhat by adding that Brighton has not yet put the transfer fee of Cucurella on the table. Talks are underway between the English club and Getafe to complete the transfer soon. Brighton hopes to announce the transfer in the coming hours or days. Cucurella turned down an offer from another club to join the Premier League.

Cucurella went through the youth academy of Barcelona and managed to break into the first team, but it remained with one appearance in 2017. After a loan period with Eibar and Getafe, the latter club decided to sign the midfielder for ten million euros last year. Barcelona stipulated a resale percentage, which means that the financially troubled superpower can now add another 1.8 million euros. Cucurella made 86 appearances for Getafe, scoring 4 goals and providing 8 assists.
