Rafa Mir is the new striker of Seville. The LaLiga club has confirmed the arrival of the attacker on Friday afternoon. According to various Spanish media, Sevilla pays an amount of sixteen million euros for the attacker who is taken over from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 24-year-old Spaniard has signed a contract until the summer of 2027.

Rafa Mir, former youth player of Barcelona and Real Murcia, among others, was sold by Valencia to Wolverhampton in 2018 for two million euros. A breakthrough in England was not in it for a moment for the former Spanish youth international. After rental periods at Las Palmas and Nottingham Forest, he ended up on a rental basis with Huesca in the summer of 2019. He would stay for two seasons with the club with whom he promoted to La Liga last year.

Last season he made a big impression at the highest level of Spain. He has scored 13 goals in 38 league games. Despite his goals, Huesca was unable to avoid relegation. Rafa Mir then went to the Olympics with Spain, where he scored three times and lost the final to Brazil. His strong season sparked interest from several clubs, including Atlético Madrid. The Spanish top club was close to the arrival of Rafa Mir, but is watching how the attacker now connects his sporting future to the team of trainer Julen Lopetegui.

Rafa Mir, who can also play on the flanks, will face stiff competition in Seville. Lopetegui also has the choice of Luuk de Jong and Youssef En-Nesyri for the striker position, while Munir El Haddadi can also play in the point of the attack. In the first round of this season, Lopetegui chose En-Nesyri as the striker against Rayo Vallecano (3-0). De Jong was on the bench for ninety minutes. The contract of the the Dutch international, who was linked to PSV during this transfer period, will continue for another two years.
