The launch of Ajax’s new third uniform has not gone unnoticed beyond the national borders. Various media, journalists and well-known Dutch people have given their opinion about the jersey of the Amsterdammers. With the launch of the new uniform, Ajax officially paid tribute to Bob Marley and his song Three Little Birds on Friday, which can be heard regularly in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

The new kit is the second kit for European matches, in addition to the home kit. The stripes of clothing sponsor Adidas on the shoulders are in green, yellow and red. Just below the collar a subtle reference to the world famous song is visible in the form of three small birds resting on the Amsterdam Andreas crosses. Unlike the previously leaked shirt, this shirt has a v-neck. It soon became apparent on Friday morning that the shirt is in demand with Ajax fans, when a queue arose to gain access to the webshop.

“A phenomenal introduction to the Ajax shirt”, says Erben Wennemars. “I must have the Ajax shirt,” tweeted English ESPN reporter Alex Shaw. “There should be a petition to ban clubs from releasing a third shirt, with the exception of Ajax and Venezia,” adds commentator and analyst Matteo Bonetti of CBSSports ready. The third shirt of Venezia could also count on praise. The shirt is characterized by the colors light blue, black and gold. The club also donates five euros per shirt sold to the charity.

ASH calls it “one of the worst kept secrets this summer” and refers to the previously leaked photos of the shirt. The shirt was already leaked in December via the Twitter account @hendocfc, which based on information from a catalog and wrote that it was 70 percent certain that the third uniform would look like this. “The shirt, which was made in honor of Bob Marley, is an absolute beauty,” let GiveMeSport there is no doubt about it. “Wow. Wow. Wow. Ajax and Adidas: take a bow. This is a blast. The best outfit of the 2021/22 season? We think so.” Also FootballJOE is praising. “Ajax really spoils us with shirts, don’t they?”

The shirt could already count on a lot of sympathy from daughter Cedella Marley, she told Ajax. “I am deeply moved that Ajax has embraced Three Little Birds as its own song. Stories like this touch my heart and show how powerful songs can be. Football was everything to my father. In his words: football is freedom .” The products are available from today in the webshop and the official fan shops of the club.
