For the first time in 36 years, an AS Roma player makes the sensitive switch to Lazio: Pedro dares and has signed with the arch-rival. The 34-year-old Spaniard comes transfer-free and will play at his new club with shirt number nine.

It is the first time in 36 years that a player has made a direct switch from Roma to Lazio. Astutillo Malgioglio preceded him: the goalkeeper followed the same route in 1985. In the years that followed, there were several players who played for both clubs, but in the meantime they wore the shirts of other clubs.

Pedro was trained at Barcelona and broke through at the Camp Nou. In the summer of 2015, he was sold to Chelsea for €27 million, where he would remain for five seasons. Last year he made a free transfer from Stamford Bridge to the Stadio Olimpico.

Last season, Pedro scored six goals and seven assists in forty games. He was told by the new coach Jose Mourinho that he is not in the plans. The 65-time international decided to accept an offer from Lazio. Despite the ongoing contract, the Serie A club does not have to transfer a transfer fee to the rival.
