Giorgos Giakoumakis is well on his way to the exit at VVV-Venlo. According to the Daily Record Celtic has reached an agreement with VVV-Venlo about a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros. The deal would also include a resale percentage. Celtic still has to reach a personal agreement with the Greek striker, who can also go to Werder Bremen.

Wednesday night reported The Telegraph that 26-year-old Giakoumakis would have a preference for a transfer to Werder Bremen. The striker traveled to Germany on Wednesday to negotiate with the 2.Bundesliga club. Still, Celtic now seem to be a big contender for his arrival. According to the Daily Record the attacker already spoke to Celtic coach Ange Postecoglou about his role in the team.

Unlike Celtic, Werder Bremen has not yet reached an agreement with VVV. According to technical director Clement Fritz of the German club, he has had a ‘very good conversation’ with the transfer target. “He also liked it here in Bremen”, he is quoted by the General Newspaper. “The parties are still in talks. It was also important for him to get a feel for Bremen. But we are also not so naive that we only deal with one player.”

According to various media, VVV initially used an asking price of five million euros. The Telegraph announced on Wednesday evening that the club from Limburg had dropped to an asking price of 3.5 million euros. Giakoumakis, ex-player of OFI Crete and the Polish Górnik Zabrze, among others, was taken over from AEK Athens a year ago for 200,000 euros.
