Hüseyin Dogan will not wear the shirt of MVV Maastricht in the coming seasons, the club from the Kitchen Champion Division announced on Wednesday evening. MVV is waiving the arrival of the 27-year-old center striker, despite the fact that both parties agreed on a two-year commitment last Friday. An ‘unreasonable, unusual and unacceptable demand’ for MVV from the Dogan camp is reason for the club to abandon the agreement.

MVV reports via the club website that Dogan demanded last weekend that he can leave transfer-free during the winter break. “MVV did not want to go along with that, so the switch is now failing. MVV is deeply disappointed in this course of action,” the Limburgers write. “The club had been in talks with the attacker for weeks and were willing to put their neck out financially to bring him in. For this, financial support from the donors of the supporter initiative Veer Zien MVV was also used, because MVV was convinced that Dogan would be an added value for the club.”

According to MVV, Dogan himself was ‘convinced and enthusiastic’ about MVV’s story. Last Friday a presentation video with him was even recorded and revealed. “A publication for which the player also gave his explicit permission,” emphasizes MVV. In the video, Dogan takes the MVV shirt and addresses the supporters: “Hello MVV supporters, Hüseyin Dogan here. I have the shirt now, but I look forward to wearing it soon.” Just before the video was shot, Dogan passed a medical exam. “In the presence of several people, it seemed that an oral agreement had been reached. What remained was the actual signing of the contract,” said MVV.

At Dogan’s request, signing the paperwork was postponed to Monday. A press presentation was also scheduled for that day. The media was already invited to this. “However, the sudden demand to be able to leave on a free transfer during the winter break is now throwing a spanner in the works. With that, an agreement is still off the table,” MVV mourns. The club announces that it is now looking for other acquisitions that can strengthen the Klaas Wels team. Dogan, ex-striker of NAC Breda, among others, has been transfer-free since he left Istiqlol Dushanbe from Tajikistan.
