The transfer of Tammy Abraham to AS Roma has been completed, Chelsea announced through the official channels. The 23-year-old striker makes the switch to the Italian capital for a transfer fee of forty million euros, Fabrizio Romano announced earlier. Chelsea have the option from 2023 to buy Abraham back for eighty million euros.

The transfer fee of Abraham can increase by 5 million euros to 45 million euros through bonuses. AS Roma is short of cash, partly due to the corona crisis and only pays five million euros of the amount at once. Abraham has signed a contract with AS Roma until mid-2026 and will earn a net annual salary of four to five million euros.

Partly due to the arrival of Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea currently has no place for Abraham, but therefore retains the option to buy the Englishman back. “Tammy will always be welcome at Stamford Bridge,” said technical director Marina Granovskaia on Chelsea’s club site. “We have all enjoyed his development in youth and in the first team. We are grateful for his contribution to our success.”

At AS Roma, Abraham succeeds Edin Dzeko, who in turn replaced Lukaku at Internazionale. Abraham was in doubt about a move to Roma for a long time, as Arsenal also showed interest. However, the latter club was not concrete and so Abraham decided to go to Rome last week. In total, he made 82 official appearances for Chelsea, producing 30 goals and 12 assists.
