Norwegian football is under the spell of a scandal involving twelve players from SK Brann, a club that is currently at the bottom of the top division. The footballers held a sex party at Brann Stadium last week and thought they would prevent evidence of this by not taking phones with them. However, they had not counted on the security cameras in the stadium.

Twelve players from SK Brann’s squad decided to continue their evening in a nightclub after dinner last week. There they invited at least four women to come to the club’s stadium. According to the Norwegian Bergen’s Tidende ‘playing activities on the field and in the locker room’ took place there, in front of the security cameras.

The club is not happy with the late night escapades of its players. “The police launched an investigation on Friday to check whether any criminal offenses had taken place,” said SK Brann in a statement. “The club is cooperating to investigate everything to the bottom.” Vilbeke Johannesen, the general manager of Brann, has also responded. “We realize that there are rumors about the use of illegal drugs, so we will also test the players ourselves.”

Last Sunday, Brann’s supporters also expressed their dismay at the incident. A banner was found on the outside of the stadium with the text ‘scum’ on it, English for ‘scum’. Brann did manage to win again for the first time in eight league games. It was 3-2 against middle engine Sandefjord. Brann is still at the bottom with ten points from fifteen games.
