Manchester United have confirmed the arrival of Raphael Varane. The defender is Manchester United’s second summer signing after Jadon Sancho. Reported at an earlier stage the Reds already that an agreement was reached with Real Madrid. Only the medical examination, which will take place later this week, will stand in the way of a final transfer from Real Madrid to United. Varane is signing a contract until mid-2025. Varane’s name has been increasingly associated with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks. The French centre-back still had a contract with Real Madrid until mid-2022 and has rejected all offers to extend that contract. Manchester United are now taking full advantage of that situation, ending a ten-year partnership between Varane and Real Madrid, who bought him from RC Lens in the summer of 2011 for €10 million.

Over the past ten seasons in Spain, Manchester United’s signing has come to 360 appearances in all competitions. Varane’s trophy cabinet was completed in Madrid with, among other things, the Champions League four times, the Spanish league title three times and the national cup once.
